Here is a 12 string bridge being pulled away from its body. The best way to combat this is to de-tune ALL strings. De-tune all strings by one (1) step to "D" or even 2 steps to "C" (if you use heavy gauge strings) when the guitar is stored for periods of time. Do not just loosen or slack all of the strings - tune to a lower pitch - to take some of the pressure off these delicate acoustic guitars. 12 strings (even 6) produce plenty of force that will bow the neck, distort the top, pull the bridge up, etc., especially during the dry winter months. |
